[BS] The BlogSense Guide to Internet Curation

Content Curation.  So what is it?

In today’s internet soup It can means a lot of different things. To find a medium definition we need to think broad and possibly use a couple of metaphors.

Curation, is like creation, except the creator is creating by controlling the flow of already created things, pruning here and there, editing here and there, to create a concentrated, more beautiful output.

In a sense, all life is curation. We have this everflow of power and energy animating the material creation. DNA guides (curates) this energy into unfolding patterns. Digestive systems break up matter and the body system filters, edits, and curates new growth out of the food material, effectively directing content here and there.

Even when you speak to another you are curating content. Out of the pool of ideas in your head you grab and select  and use this content to create coherent strings of communication.

So you get the picture now and see the common relationships? Curation is alchemy in action, but in our case of focus, our medium is written content and our purpose is content delivery.

So to keep it simple, for us, the process of collecting, filtering, refining, and re-distributing content in a unique-ish package becomes what we call “content curation”.

Tools to help with Content Creation

GOOGLE READER

Before Google Reader fully integrated with Google+ they had a share setting that would allow us to send articles we read “with an attached note” to a customized public RSS feed. We could use this reader platform to follow all our blogs, sort through the crap, select the gold, and then use the shared items RSS feed to redistribute the hand selected content to the blog/platform of our choice using RSS importing. It was very powerful stuff!

Googlereader copy copy_620x258

We can still use google reader to curate content to Google+, which is still a very powerful feature for building readership, but we’ve lost the capability to use RSS to export to other platforms. For those who want to revive this capability, keep your eyes on the HiveMined Reader alternative.

BLOGSENSE AUTOMATION TOOLS (FOR WORDPRESS)

BlogSense automation is the parent software of this blog, and provides automation tools & solutions to self hosted WordPress blogs.  Features that make BlogSense good at content curation are , like an RSS reader, you can store a wide variety of RSS feeds and then use filtering methods to block unwanted articles or use the direct importing mode to import select articles and add commentary to the articles you would like to pass onto your readers before publishing.

Logo

BlogSense also allows the user to post content to the ‘draft’ or ’pending review’ publish status for review before publishing, while additionally offering the option to have articles emailed to you email for manual approval before publishing.

Tweet Adder

Tweet Adder does not curate content, but instead curates readers (followers). With this tool you can use keyword based automated searches to pick twitter users out of the collective pool and arrange to make content with them, promoting a potential follow. One time I made a quick video introducing the Tweet Adder interface: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhB5y7tC420

Tweet-Adder-logo-300x72

TUBE TOOLBOX

Automate

This software is similar to Tweet Adder in the since that it uses automation to connect with users through keyword searches. You can use keywords related to whatever topic you think worthy, and harvest user accounts that turn up in the results, and then use Tube Toolbox to auto-friend these people, share a video with them, message them, suggest them to subscribe to your channel, etc.

What are the different types of curation models for content? Could curation be considered autoblogging?

There are a couple of different types of curation models and each has it’s own level of internet respect. You could even say that these models could be ranked in order of superiority.

The first and weakest model is called the summary & link based curation model.  It consists of a editor hand selecting and re-distributing articles in tact with the original summary and a link to the original source.

The second model is a little strong and it’s the excerpt + editorial commenting + link to the original article. This model consists an editor hand selecting content and then using it as a platform for writing your own editorial content. This is by far a stronger model then the prior own. It adds a personality to your blog and increases the chances of retaining readership loyalty.

The third model is the strongest and at the same time most professional model employed to date. It is the journalistic curation approach aka 90%+ original content  usually the results of a complete re-summarization of a topic inspired by a hand selected article, providing editorial content and possibly, but not necessarily, citing the inspiring content source. This model usually emerges when a reporting firm has the money, talent, and readership to make the change.

Many popular sites such as TechCrunch , started out at level two content curation to end up at level three.  Most reporting agencies (both local and internet based) operate at level three.  Many small reporting/curation still exist at level two and experience loyal readers and have no aspirations to move into level three. Most all of Google+, Twitter, Facebook, etc accounts operate successfully at the level two curation.

So you see, this is the current paradigm my mind sits at concerning content curation. Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to add some more tools for both content and reader curation services.

Feel free to comment and improve!

[BS] BlogSenseWp switches from Google Translation API service to Bing Translation API service.

BlogSense supports Bing Translation API! Hello! Over the last month, anyone working with the translation features of BlogSense may have noticed that campaigns were halted because of the inability to translate content. The news related to this phenomenon is that Google has disabled their free API based translation service in favor for a paid translation service. It is our intention to eventually offer the option to either use Bing’s free service or Google’s paid service, but for now we have introduced Bing’s API based service to restore translation features back to BlogSense users. Which service is better? I have no clue and have done zero case studies. One would think that because of weath & pride, Google would produce a superior translation service, but hey, Microsoft is a pretty altruistic and powerful company as well. It just might be that Bing’s service is superior! API limitations and throttling BlogSense does provide an application ID for global use, but there are use limitations available to each APIKey. It might be prudent to grab your own APIKey from Bing.com. BlogSense provides a settings area within the Automation->Global Settings area where you can paste in and overwrite the default api key with your [...]

[BS] 9.8.8.7 Added ability to sort Youtube Videos by Rating, Relevance, Publish Date, and View Count

Just as the title suggest, we now have a sort option within our video module that allows us to set the video return sort order as we wish. This way our campaigns can continue running over time without the risk of stalling out due to the search api returning old, already published results. It will also help with general flexibility. New Sorting Options: By Relevance By Publish-Date By Rating By ViewCount Hope you enjoy this new feature.   Note: BlogSenseWp is an automation solutions utility for WordPress. It could be said that this plugin focuses on the “autoblogging” industry, but autoblogging just a buzz word. We truly focus on wordpress automation strategies and techniques. This particular article highlights an improvement to our Videos Module, which is, to-date, WordPress’s most flexible automated youtube video delivery service. With it we can target keywords as well as individual user accounts. BlogSense provides a wide variety of automated publishing patterns, ranging from 1 every minute to 1 every 10 days. With the video module we can also use the video’s publish date as the WordPress publish date. BlogSense also has extensive auto-categorization features worth looking into. [BS] Feature Suggestions for the New Google Reader

The new Google Reader layout has been released and I’ve noticed that we’ve lost a couple of very handy features. Namely, the ability to share articles with a personal note to our public RSS feed. Don’t panic! We can solve this out with diplomatic measures if Google will work with us. Let’s start out by explaining what the share feature was and what we lost when it disappeared. In the Google Reader interface at the bottom of each article a share button was available for sharing the content to other Reader users who had opted in to subscribe to your shares.    We could choose to share the article alone, or choose to share the article with a personal note that would be placed in blockquotes above the content and this allowed Google Reader a content re-syndication distribution system because of the following…   A very strong feature of the share button was that each item shared was sent to an RSS feed available to the user. These highly unique RSS feeds could be taken outside of Google Reader and be used to power a wide range of different content delivery services such as newsgroups, newsletters, news sections of forums, blogs, [...]

One of the appeals of using BlogSense is the ability to remote publish to web2.0 sites like blogger.com, which can affectively help boost your rankings and increase your overall traffic exposure. BlogSpot, aka Google’s Blogger, does not accept XML/RPC remote publishing, but it does accept email-to-publishing, which is a feature that BlogSense provides for each user created campaign. [BS] C# Wait function.

Hey Guys, You may notice that I’m posting more tutorials. I’ve decided to expand out my responsibilities a little bit. Most of you this wont apply to but possibly it will help a few on the internet. I am developing a new software in c# and I’m learning a lot. One thing I learned recently is that Thread.Sleep() pauses the javascript loading of my browser within my program. Well I need to pause the program logic, but not pause any internal processing. For this reason I’ve written a function to help pause the program logic. It could be considered a wait() instead of a sleep(). Hope it helps: public static int f_sleep(int time) { System.DateTime now = System.DateTime.Now; System.TimeSpan duration = new System.TimeSpan(0, 0, 0, time); System.DateTime then = now.Add(duration); while (then>DateTime. Now) { //MessageBox.Show("NewTime:" + then + "Now:" + DateTime. Now); Application.DoEvents(); Thread.Sleep(10); } return 1; } Similar Posts: Autoblog Blueprint 2.0 Very Big Recommendation 9.4.2.1 Autoblogging Scheduled Posts every X seconds and hours. 9.1.1.1 Adding The Date to the Post Title or Post body using a shortcode Autoblog: Drop Posting Module BlogSense 3.8 Release More News Inside

[WPTT] URL Rotating for Redirect Profiles, Keywords to Tags, Mask Links in Text Widgets-Headers-Footer, Masking Specific Links, Stats for Popups

Hello!

These updates have been added to WpTrafficTools:

URL Rotating for Redirect Profiles

We can now set redirect profiles to accept multiple URLs. The redirect URL that a user is redirected to will be selected at random from the list.

Keywords to Tags

We now have the option to capture incoming keywords and set them as tags to our posts.

Keywords to Tags

Mask Links in Text Widgets-Headers-Footer

We now have options to enable/disable auto-link-masking on text-widgets, the content in our header.php file, and the content in a theme’s footer.php file.

Masking Specific Links That Meet Specifications

We now have the option to only mask external links that meet a certain criteria (strings found within the url). We can leave this field blank to continue masking all external links.

Stats for Popups Profils

We now display the fire count for each popup profile, keeping track of each time a popup profile is fire. Also, popup animation has been slowed down from a half a second to a whole second and the popup will zoom in from the center of the screen rather than the top-right of the screen.

[BS] Thunderbird Message Filters Sort messages by body with Google’s IMAP.gmail.com

So I recently bought a new computer and have had to transfer my thunderbird settings from one computer to another. I used MozBackup to copy the account settings and folder structures, but the custom filters did not transfer over. Turns out there is a plugin extension that allows us to import/export custom filters here, but the extension would not work with Thunderbird 7.0.1. So I just began re-creating the filters. Turns out that the ‘body’ custom filter was was not available. This was terrible news. Thunderbird doesn’t have this feature setting because Thunderbird, when in imap mode, only reads the headers of the emails instead of the whole email when synchronizing   In order to restore the ‘body’ search option we need to set the mail account settings to store our emails on the hard disk. Tools->Account Settings Synchronization & Storage ->Advanced Tick all the folders you would like to have advanced storage on  (I tick all of my folders for every account. Best to have a record). Now ‘body’ should appear! Similar Posts: BlogSense 9.1.0.2 Remote Publishing with Email, Remote Publishing with PixelPipe, Bookmarking with Pixelpipe BlogSense Trick. [BS] BlogSense Tips Using Youtube Shortcode to Generate Video ID

Sometimes we need to capture the youtube video id so we can embed it into a theme shortcode, or custom video player like JW Player . Here is a trick to use BlogSense’s video generation shortcode to return the video id rather then the object embed code. Go to Automation->Core Templates->Post Template: Youtube Object Edit the template to contain %video_id% only. And voila now the youtube shortcode should return a video id.   Now keep in mind that this template also powers the %video_embed% token within the ‘Videos’ module. So if you are using the Videos module be prepared for the %video_embed% token to return the video id instead of the object embed code. [BS] %video_id% token for Youtube Module, Ability to use video publish date as post date, custom post_type categories.

Hey guys, We’ve added some minor yet significant improvements in this release. %video_id% Token We can now use %video_id% as a token in our Youtube Module, which may help us with special themes that accept Youtube video ids within shortcodes and custom field values. Use video publish date as WordPress post date Now we have the option to use the publish date of the Youtube video when scheduling videos. I recently was working on a client’s site and it made since to import his Youtube video content into the site retaining it’s original post date to preserve the timeline of the content. Support for auto-posting in to custom post_type sub-categories. This is tricky. Some themes have custom post types and allow users to create categories and sub-categories. I added in the capability to try and insert the post content into the custom post_type’s category, assuming there is a normal category created in the same name. There is no promise it will work yet for your custom theme but I have it working for the itis theme at least, and that helped me out. The secret to it working is for the custom taxonomy name for the unique post_type category has [...]

[BS] A story about organization, methodolgy, and Google+’s potential.

There was a man who decided he was going to prepare a new field for planting crop, and immediately set for clearing the land of it’s trees and then removing the stones from broken soil. As he removed the stones he set them in groups of 10 piles, the first being of the largest boulders, all the way down to the smallest pebbles.  Soon after, a building contractor passes through on his way to market and noticed the 10 piles of rocks and seeing these rocks already sorted he immediately offers to  buy them from the farmer at the price of 40 silver pieces. Then farmer agreed and was very happy with his fortune, and the builder began to collect the rocks. Soon after, neighbors hearing of the farmer’s good fortune approach the builder and say, “We too have rocks in piles that we would let you take off our hands for a small amount of bronze pieces, and yet you offer this man 40 silver.”   The builder replies,  “My Dear fellows, with your stones It is not the same and therefore your fortune cannot be the same either. For see I would have to sort these rocks at the cost of my own labor and time where as with your neighbor the rocks were pre-sorted. [...]

[WPTT] New jQuery Modal Pover Styling for WPTrafficTool’s Popup Management Module

Hey Guys,

Recently we found some trouble with the jQuery popover modal box not rendering correctly with internet explorer. The jQuery modal class we were using was not very fancy, it was a simple background dim with hard cut square iframe presentation, and was really only meant to be the first drafts… a placeholder until we can find something better.

Today, in order to tidy up the discovered bugs, I went ahead and replaced the old class with a new one (The FancyZoom Class ) and modified it to support our iframes. I think it’s the same class the wptext2ads plugin used, but I’m not sure.

Anyway it looks sharp, has a zoom in animation, and rounded corners to go ahead and give the popup that most-in-fashion presentational appeal. Big improvement.

Here’s a video demonstrating it in action:

[WPTT] Backup & Import Link Profiles | Link Masking for Spiders Only | New Quality Control Measures

Heya,

Prepared for you, the latest update to WP Traffic Tools:

Backup & Import Link Profiles

Now we can export our created link profiles in XML format. This allows for backups of work as well as porting all of our masked & unmasked link profiles into a new blog. This was a top requested feature. Hope you enjoy.

Screenshot: Export & Import Masked Link Profiles

Control Cookie Lifespan for Popup-Popunder Profiles

This new addition will let you custom define the lifespan of the cookie that tells WPTT that we have already promoted a popup to a visitor. We can make this lifespan shorter to throw popups at our repeat traffic more frequently, or we can make much larger to ensure we only present a popup to a visitor rarely.

Mask Links Globally only for Spiders

This was a unique request by a customer. If we want to, we can now leave all links uncloaked for human visitors and have them cloaked for spiders. We use special browser feature detections to determine what should constitute a true human as well as useragent filtering.

New Options to Help Throttle Cookie Dropping/Stuffing

WPTT now keeps track of who sets it’s cookies with. If we like, we can set cookies to drop only one time every x days for each visitor. This will allow us to keep our affiliate click-thru statistics more realistic. We have also added in measures to prevent cookie stuffing for spiders/non-human visitors.

Screenshot: Cookie Stuffing & Cookie Throttling

Other Miscellaneous Updates

Ad placements for sub-categories

Now when designing Cateogry Ad Targeting profiles, a sub-category will automatically take on any profiles created on it’s parent category. So if you have many sub-categories for one parent category and would like to target all those subs without having to create a profile on each one… well we can just create one on the parent. If there is one detected for that sub-category specifically then it will overwrite the parent category’s profile.

Ability to deliver cookies if the referrer contains…

We now have the ability to drop/stuff cookies based on keywords discovered either in the content (title or body) or the referring URL. Just like keyword-based-ad-placements, you can choose how you want WPTT to search.

For the search engines: Stuff cookie by referrer. Drop cookie keywords detected in referrer.

Global Link Masking now preserves the following elements:

style,class,title,onclick,rel

Alright space sailors. That’s all. Think of my health and wish me many kind women to help keep my diet.

[BS] Panda and Autoblogging Models Google Panda Explained

Hey Guys,

In this article I want to point out how your business models may or may not be threatened by the changing ways of Google Panda. If you look at today’s changes that Panda has caused, please know  that it’s not all said and done. Panda is machine learning in action, and it’s a living algorithm designed to determine likable qualities and award them, while also targeting dislikable qualities and awarding them as well.

If you are fighting for longevity, attention to detail and professionalism will be your friend. Going the extra mile with the aesthetics of your site will help you.  It has truly always been this way; Panda is just forcing us to honor it quicker.

It’s a reminder to you wolves to make better sheep costumes. That’s a bad metaphor but it gets the point across. Rather I should say: It’s telling you to dress in the day’s high-fashion if you want to stand out at the party…

How you should go about doing this? I cannot advise. I fear my own advice because most of you guys are older and better than me when it comes to marketing. But it doesn’t take a seasoned expert to know that times are changing (for the better overall), so we need to know how to morph ourselves to best go with the flow.

Please if you have the time, take a moment to watch this well prepared explanation of Google Panda. It’s a video so if you are receiving this article via email you’ll want to open it externally to see the embed:

[BS] Potential Harmful Bug May Need Your Attention

Heya

If you have updated within the last week and use the RSS module, there is the possibility that your duplicate content check was disabled. In order to correct this annoying mistake on my end I’ve added in a sql query to auto-enable duplicate content checks on all your RSS campaigns. If you are running a campaign that needs this duplicate content check disabled then please return to your campaign settings and re-disable.

There’s more. Because of this bug a good amount of duplicate content could have been published onto your blog without your knowing. It did to mine and I assume it will have to yours as well (If you have been running the latest version this past week.)

In order to correct this mistake I’ve added in a Duplicate Content Cleaner Tool to our Toolbox. You can find it in Toolbox->Wordpress Tools->Duplicate Content Removed. This feature will search all your posts for identical titles, and delete any extras it finds.

[WPTT] Unblockable Popunder Profiles & New Training Videos

About two days ago I secretly release a major update to WP Traffic Tools adding the following new features:

Popunder Profiles

We now have a popup profiles section that allows us to quickly add src based unblockable popups and unblockable popunders. The idea of having unblockable popups is exciting to me because it is an affective way to promote an offer without interrupting the user’s browsing experience.

As soon as a user clicks anywhere on the screen a popup will occur in a new browser and then arrange itself behind the current active browser so the user does not have to pause in their reading experience.

I personally enjoy receiving popunder advertisements because It’s always interesting to see where this extra browser came from, and wonder how long it’s been chilling there behind the scenes.

We also offer traditional blockable popups and popunders as well as one jquery popup. We’ll considering improving (adding more options to) the jQuery popups as time passes.

Completely Restructured Interface

WP Traffic Tools spans a couple of different areas and applications now. I thought it best to re-organize each module and provide better internal documentation. Everything looks a whole lot better now.

Added a couple of user requested features

  1. Ability to add site based exceptions to global link masking
  2. Ability to disable redirection profile if no referring URL is detected.
  3. Added ‘exclude these ids’ section to Top Searches, as well as fixed some bugs.
  4. Added redirect delay option to redirection profiles.

New Training Videos

Due to all the new improvements since I first started selling WP Traffic Tools, I’ve had to redo all my videos. What a pain! Anyway this time I used a recorded that lets me go over 5 minute intervals so we have about an hours worth of training and explanation. Here’s a link to the 7 Part Video Playlist: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLF11FBA80571B2BC3

Warning: the audio is annoyingly unsmooth but if you turn your volume down it becomes less annoying. Hope this helps!

More Information

For those of you who downloaded the latest version early, I’m sad to report that the auto-update feature is broken. In order to update you will have to run /wp-content/plugins/wp-traffic-tools/update.php manually in your browser.

[BS] Create categories from Keyword List, Enable / Disable Auto Tagging of Posts for each campaign.

We’ve two new features added into BlogSense along with some inner code improvements. We’ve added the ability to use a keyword list to create WordPress categories. This used to be a BlogSense feature until it was discontinued about a year ago. Good to have it back!

The other feature is the ability to enable/disable the automatic tagging system on a campaign level. Before we had a singular global setting to manage our auto-tagging strategies. Now we can better control tag behavior.

What can we do with autotagging?

  1. Disable auto-tagging entirely.
  2. Use Yahoo Terms Extraction to create tags from the post content.
  3. Use parts of the title as tags.
  4. Use tags already found within the WordPress database, selected at random.
  5. Use a custom tag list pasted into a textarea.
  6. Control the amount of tags to use for each post.

We can also use CSV tokens to create tags for our CSV Importing module.

Here’s a video demonstrating the latest updates

The global auto link cloaking has been improved to do the following:

Instead of generating a a random string of 7 characters to behave as the permalink; eg: http://www.myblog.com/go/a7gmone , we now check the anchor of the link we are cloaking and use that to generate a permalink.

It’s said that this consideration will most likely increase clickthru rates, probably yielding the the fact that the appropriate keywords are contained within the link structure.

Lets look at some examples of how this will play out on a live blog.

[WPTT] 3.9.1.2 - Added Second Widget Option, Masking Now Optional with Keyword Alterations, Notes for Link Profiles

Hello,

I’ve taken some time to add in user requests concerning the Link Profiles module and Cookie Stuffing Module.

Here we go!

IMPROVEMENTS ON LINK PROFILES.

  • Improved the code to be able to ignore text strings within title=” and alt=” html.
  • We can now optionally mask the URLs within our keyword auto-linking affects. This will allow us to auto-link keywords to an actual remote URL rather than masking that URL before hot-linking.
  • We now can add developer notes to each profile, which will allow us to tag information to profiles for whatever reason we might need.

IMPROVEMENTS TO THE ADVERTISEMENT MODULE

  • We now have two widget locations to assign ad content to.  For those of you currently using the WPTT Widget to place ads, you might be required to resave your profile and check your widgets area to make sure it is ready to accept ads using the new system.

[WPTT] Rotating Links with WP Traffic tools, Split Testing links with WP Traffic Tools for WordPress.

We now have the ability to add multiple target URLs to our URL masking & Keyword Linking profiles. We also can keep track of traffic to each link instance as well as keep track of the referrals of the traffic.

Check out the Youtube video below to see a demonstration of these features!

[WPTT] Masked Links - Track Traffic Sources - Recent Improvement - 3.9.4.5

In this latest release we have increase the traffic reporting features related to manually created masked links. What’s that mean? It means that we are now tracking two additional pieces of information for traffic that comes through our created masked links; namely the keyword the user arrived in on and the search engine that sent it to our site. If it was a direct access then keywords/engine will be listed as n/a.

Things we now track:

  1. Referring URL
  2. Target (Un-Masked) URL
  3. Related Search Engine
  4. Related Search Keywords
  5. Human Visitor Count

The ones emboldened above are the new parameters we track. It’s a hard one to explain so let’s see it in action:

[BS] BlogSense Requirements – How to Install – Readme.pdf – 8/12/2011

HOW TO INSTALL

1. Extract all contents of this zip file onto your hard drive.

2. FTP into your blog's ftp server using your favorite FTP program.

3. Once connected through FTP, navigate to the directory of your WordPress installation.

4. Refer to your BlogSense files which you extracted onto your hard drive, highlight the

following sub-directories and files listed below and upload them to your base WordPress

directory.

/auto/

/images/

robots.txt

readme.pdf

2. Now you are ready to begin using BlogSense. Open your browser and point it to this location:

/auto/index.php. This is how we will access the BlogSense Administration suite.

3. Once the BlogSense Administration Panel is open. Login using your wordpress administration

login information.

4. A cronjob needs to be set on the file heartbeat.php to power blogsense. The easiest way to

do this is download the BlogSense Connect plugin, which will automatically take care of this by

using WordPress's pseudo cronjob system to power blogsense. This plugin is included in

BlogSense's ‘my-plugins' folder, but can also be downloaded from it's location at wordpress's

plugin direction here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/blogsense-connect/

Thats it!

Click the following link to view a video demonstration of a BlogSense install.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAsbHkzyiGA

REQUIREMENTS

1. allow_url_fopen must be enabled for PHP to save images and to have automatic

updates.

2. CURL must be enabled for the grabbing of content from external locations.

3. PHP5 (PHP4 will give issues).

4. Any NON IE browser. Internet Explorer is a bad apple and too costly to stay compabible

with. So any non-IE browser will work.

5. Sometimes if a web-host does not have suPHP installed then problems will occur with

automatic updating.

6. mb_detect_encoding must be enabled for BlogSense to behave well with foreign

languages.

7. To find out information about your PHP settings open /auto/phpin.php in your browser.

HOW TO USE â€" THE BASICS

Use your wordpress administration username and password to log into blogsense.

Activation / Setup

Please enter in your BlogSense License # and the License Email given to you with your original

software package and press install. If all is well this should take care of BlogSense Activation. If

you have purchased a single-site license and registered a domain-url instead of a email address,

please use the paypal email address you purchased BlogSense with.

Uninstallation

Once installed, uninstallation is as easy as pushing a button. Please note that once uninstalled,

for any reasons, all campaign data and BlogSense settings will be removed. If something goes

wrong during a software upgrade and it appears that BlogSense has uninstalled itself, do not

believe it! Contact administration for help in restoring BlogSense.

Learning Curves

BlogSense is fairly large with many modules, each having it's own feel to it. It's recommended

that you practice your automation techniques on a testblog before you attempt to place

BlogSense on a live blog.

FEATURE AND OPERATIONAL EXPLANATIONS & VIDEO

DOCUMENTATION

On thing you may notice is that a thorough written documentation of BlogSense's many

features is not provided, this is because of the fiercely dynamic nature of BlogSense and also

because we are understaffed (1 employee, namely me!). But we do try to keep a well populated

+ updated forum that provides information of every aspect of BlogSense. If you would like to

learn about something that isn't yet mentioned, please ask (Google is good too)!

http://www.hatnohat.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/10-Documentation

TROUBLESHOOTING

All BlogSense installations are hard wired to the BlogSense community forum, which is a great

place for learning. If you are experiencing troubles with software operation, a troubleshooting

section is available. There are also information bubbles by each setting… so if you are uncertain,

hover your mouse over the bubble for more info!

Note: When describing your issue please be as specific as possible, stating details on how the

situation came about, where the error is displaying, and providing copies of the errors. In order

to best serve you, we have guidelines on the best ways to open a troubleshooting thread here:

http://www.hatnohat.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/26-Troubleshooting

Sometimes it is too difficult to solve an error over the forum, if this is the case we can work on

your server, but a temporary ftp account pointing to your wordpress install directory, as well as

a temporary wordpress username and password, will be needed. (PM Hudson)

It benefits all BlogSense users for your needs to be met and your issues to be solved. Please look

over the following sections before opening a ticket. http://www.hatnohat.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/26-

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

The Autoblogging Blueprint

There are many guides and tutorials that have been collected from various places and posted

within the BlogSense community forums. Those will be good reads and offer small (or large)

help for improving your knowledge and best practices. But there is one resource that I

recommend above all to my users , and that is TheAutoblogBluePrint. This is a series of

informational articles, a private community, and a step system for strong autoblog building.

Resource: http://www.hatnohat.com/go/theautoblogblueprint

AFFILIATE PROGRAM

We do have an affiliate program, but it's by request. If you think you can leverage BlogSense in

a joint venture type situation please contact me directly via email or the forums.

Hatnohat Marketing & Development

So I market and support all my products under a silly name and in the company of some other

great developers… Check us out at http://www.hatnohat.com. My WP Traffic Tools

(http://www.wptraffictools.com) plugin is a fantastic and powerful plugin for WordPress;

definitely worth a look.

I also can be outsourced. If you are a professional and need help setting up and maintaining a

BlogSense powered site, and if you are not breaking any laws, then you're welcome to contact

[BS] BlogSense 9.5.3.1 – Perfecting BlogSene – Gains Keyword Module

Attention  BlogSense!

For the longest time the difference between BlogSense and other commercial available automation programs has been that the other's were powered by keyword lists, where as BlogSense focused on everything else in the world of automation but this (I originally didn't want to re-invent the wheel and risk appearing as a WP Robot copy cat).

But as I've grown as a marketer I've seen the value in having such an option and have seen how it can help quicky generate and target content at the same time.

BlogSense now has a keyword list powered automation module making BlogSense the most comprehensive autoblogger on the internet to date.

There is a catch though; rather a weakness. BlogSense is still not a strong provider of content generation shortcodes. We have a couple, but not many. Because of this I recommend using other software's shortcodes, such as WP Robot's or WP Mage's should help perfect any shortcomings inherent in BlogSense to make BlogSense to perfect automation system.

Here is a video introduction to the latest addition:

In other news. Are you taking advantage of Google Plus or Facebook? I found a like/plus sharing system that I'm currently trying out. So far it's pretty cool! Check it out here:

Take care and tell someone about BlogSense!

[BS] 9.4.2.1 – Autoblogging – Scheduled Posts every X seconds and hours.

We now have new post scheduling options that allow us to do the following:

  • 1 / minute
  • 1 / 5 minutes
  • 1 / 10 minutes
  • 1 / 15 minutes
  • 1 / 20 minutes
  • 1 / 25 minutes
  • 1 / 30 minutes
  • 1 / hour
  • 1 every 2 hours
  • 1 every 3 hours
  • 1 every 4 hours
  • 1 every 5 hours
  • 1 every 6 hours
  • 1 every 7 hours
  • 1 every 8 hours

Whereas in the post our scheduling system traditionally only allowed for either ‘all at once' posting or gradienting posts over the days in a random order with a limit of 16 per day.

[BS] BlogSense 9.4.1.1 – Manage Spin Database, Campaign Backup & Import System, Spin API, more

Hola BlogSense,

Some major improvements included inside. I'm short on time so I'll try to run over the improvements quickly.

MANAGE INTERNAL SPIN DATABASE

We can now edit our spin database which will allow for overall personalization and quality control improvements. These features can be found at BlogSense->Toolbox->Miscellaneous Tools->Manage Internal Spin Database

  1. Edit/Add/Remove phrases to phrase sets.
  2. Add new phrase sets.
  3. Export entire spin database in xml format.
  4. Import entire spin database in xml format.

IMPROVED BACKUP SYSTEM

In addition to entire site cloning we can now backup and import BlogSense campaigns. This will help speed things along when transferring the campaigns of a test site to a live

API ACCESS TO THE SPIN DATABASE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ62ObMFEHc

IMPROVEMENTS TO THE REMOTE PUBLISHING API

The BlogSense remote publishing API now accepts the following parameters:

  • post_type
  • cat_id (now accepts a slug as well as an id, and if the remote blog detects that there is no category for the slug indicated it will attempt to auto-create it).

REMOTE PUBLISHING URL REPORT

If you are using BlogSense API's to  publish to remote BlogSense sites, we now keep logs of the remote pages created through these APIs. This is to help those who are using BlogSense to create a remote publishing network to keep track of their backlink. This feature can be found at: BlogSense->Toolbox->Miscellaneous Tools-> Access Remote Publishing Logs

DRAFTED POSTS AND BOOKMARKING

Until now it has gone unnoticed that posts set into ‘draft' or ‘pending_review' mode were being exempted from any bookmarking. This has been corrected.

CONTROLLING THE POST TYPE

Our automation/autoblogging platform can now control the post_type of campaigns, setting them to posts, pages, or any other custom post_type available.

BLOGSENSE NOW SUPPORTS XML/RPC REMOTE PUBLISHING

Just what the title suggests. We can now use the XML/RPC remote publishing protocol to export content to remote CMSs.

ALRIGHT! THAT'S ALL IN THIS RELEASE!

I've a couple of more major things I would like to do including designing and implementing a keyword-list based module similar to the designs of WP Robot and WPTB.  For a long time we have focused on RSS and custom sources and bookmarking, which cover a wide array of applications, but it's about time to take a shot at a keyword based module. We'll see how it goes.

Latest Files Download Location:

If you are wondering whether or not it is safe to upgrade then it's best to go with this rule: If it isn't broke and you are not in need of any of the new features, Leave it be until things settle down a bit.

Otherwise upgrade! Hope everyone is having a great summer!

[BS] Tweet Adder – Taking advantage of the Twitter Market

Hey BlogSense,

I made a short video review on the Tweet Adder software. I use it to automatically develop & mature my Twitter accounts for all my applicable projects. It's a really great tool and many could benefit from employing a tool like this in their marketing development strategies.

For me it's running on an old computer in the closet, 24/7, always wroking, always expanding the the scope of my social marketing efforts.

Here it is. Just a lazy 5 minute introduction, but hope you find it interesting!

[WPTT] 3.8.6.3 - Improved Cloaked Link Tracking

In this latested addition to WP Traffic Tools we begin to collect more information related to our cloaked link profiles, such as how many times that link is accessed (we’ve actually had this already) and also now we log where the traffic is coming from (aka track the referrers) and show their distinct counts.

[WPTT] 3.8.8.1 - Improvement on the way we handle pretty link generation.

The global auto link cloaking has been improved to do the following:

Instead of generating a a random string of 7 characters to behave as the permalink; eg: http://www.myblog.com/go/a7gmone , we now check the anchor of the link we are cloaking and use that to generate a permalink.
