[WPTT] 3.8.6.3 - Improved Cloaked Link Tracking

In this latested addition to WP Traffic Tools we begin to collect more information related to our cloaked link profiles, such as how many times that link is accessed (we’ve actually had this already) and also now we log where the traffic is coming from (aka track the referrers) and show their distinct counts.

[WPTT] 3.8.6.3 - Improved Cloaked Link Tracking

[WPTT] 3.8.8.1 - Improvement on the way we handle pretty link generation.

The global auto link cloaking has been improved to do the following:

Instead of generating a a random string of 7 characters to behave as the permalink; eg: http://www.myblog.com/go/a7gmone , we now check the anchor of the link we are cloaking and use that to generate a permalink.

It’s said that this consideration will most likely increase clickthru rates, probably yielding the the fact that the appropriate keywords are contained within the link structure.

Lets look at some examples of how this will play out on a live blog.

[WPTT] 3.9.1.2 - Added Second Widget Option, Masking Now Optional with Keyword Alterations, Notes for Link Profiles

Hello,

I’ve taken some time to add in user requests concerning the Link Profiles module and Cookie Stuffing Module.

Here we go!

IMPROVEMENTS ON LINK PROFILES.

  • Improved the code to be able to ignore text strings within title=” and alt=” html.
  • We can now optionally mask the URLs within our keyword auto-linking affects. This will allow us to auto-link keywords to an actual remote URL rather than masking that URL before hot-linking.
  • We now can add developer notes to each profile, which will allow us to tag information to profiles for whatever reason we might need.

IMPROVEMENTS TO THE ADVERTISEMENT MODULE

  • We now have two widget locations to assign ad content to.  For those of you currently using the WPTT Widget to place ads, you might be required to resave your profile and check your widgets area to make sure it is ready to accept ads using the new system.

[WPTT] Rotating Links with WP Traffic tools, Split Testing links with WP Traffic Tools for WordPress.

We now have the ability to add multiple target URLs to our URL masking & Keyword Linking profiles. We also can keep track of traffic to each link instance as well as keep track of the referrals of the traffic.

Check out the Youtube video below to see a demonstration of these features!

[WPTT] Masked Links - Track Traffic Sources - Recent Improvement - 3.9.4.5

In this latest release we have increase the traffic reporting features related to manually created masked links. What’s that mean? It means that we are now tracking two additional pieces of information for traffic that comes through our created masked links; namely the keyword the user arrived in on and the search engine that sent it to our site. If it was a direct access then keywords/engine will be listed as n/a.

Things we now track:

  1. Referring URL
  2. Target (Un-Masked) URL
  3. Related Search Engine
  4. Related Search Keywords
  5. Human Visitor Count

The ones emboldened above are the new parameters we track. It’s a hard one to explain so let’s see it in action:

[BS] BlogSense Requirements – How to Install – Readme.pdf – 8/12/2011

HOW TO INSTALL

1. Extract all contents of this zip file onto your hard drive.

2. FTP into your blog's ftp server using your favorite FTP program.

3. Once connected through FTP, navigate to the directory of your WordPress installation.

4. Refer to your BlogSense files which you extracted onto your hard drive, highlight the

following sub-directories and files listed below and upload them to your base WordPress

directory.

/auto/

/images/

robots.txt

readme.pdf

2. Now you are ready to begin using BlogSense. Open your browser and point it to this location:

/auto/index.php. This is how we will access the BlogSense Administration suite.

3. Once the BlogSense Administration Panel is open. Login using your wordpress administration

login information.

4. A cronjob needs to be set on the file heartbeat.php to power blogsense. The easiest way to

do this is download the BlogSense Connect plugin, which will automatically take care of this by

using WordPress's pseudo cronjob system to power blogsense. This plugin is included in

BlogSense's ‘my-plugins' folder, but can also be downloaded from it's location at wordpress's

plugin direction here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/blogsense-connect/

Thats it!

Click the following link to view a video demonstration of a BlogSense install.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAsbHkzyiGA

REQUIREMENTS

1. allow_url_fopen must be enabled for PHP to save images and to have automatic

updates.

2. CURL must be enabled for the grabbing of content from external locations.

3. PHP5 (PHP4 will give issues).

4. Any NON IE browser. Internet Explorer is a bad apple and too costly to stay compabible

with. So any non-IE browser will work.

5. Sometimes if a web-host does not have suPHP installed then problems will occur with

automatic updating.

6. mb_detect_encoding must be enabled for BlogSense to behave well with foreign

languages.

7. To find out information about your PHP settings open /auto/phpin.php in your browser.

HOW TO USE â€" THE BASICS

Use your wordpress administration username and password to log into blogsense.

Activation / Setup

Please enter in your BlogSense License # and the License Email given to you with your original

software package and press install. If all is well this should take care of BlogSense Activation. If

you have purchased a single-site license and registered a domain-url instead of a email address,

please use the paypal email address you purchased BlogSense with.

Uninstallation

Once installed, uninstallation is as easy as pushing a button. Please note that once uninstalled,

for any reasons, all campaign data and BlogSense settings will be removed. If something goes

wrong during a software upgrade and it appears that BlogSense has uninstalled itself, do not

believe it! Contact administration for help in restoring BlogSense.

Learning Curves

BlogSense is fairly large with many modules, each having it's own feel to it. It's recommended

that you practice your automation techniques on a testblog before you attempt to place

BlogSense on a live blog.

FEATURE AND OPERATIONAL EXPLANATIONS & VIDEO

DOCUMENTATION

On thing you may notice is that a thorough written documentation of BlogSense's many

features is not provided, this is because of the fiercely dynamic nature of BlogSense and also

because we are understaffed (1 employee, namely me!). But we do try to keep a well populated

+ updated forum that provides information of every aspect of BlogSense. If you would like to

learn about something that isn't yet mentioned, please ask (Google is good too)!

http://www.hatnohat.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/10-Documentation

TROUBLESHOOTING

All BlogSense installations are hard wired to the BlogSense community forum, which is a great

place for learning. If you are experiencing troubles with software operation, a troubleshooting

section is available. There are also information bubbles by each setting… so if you are uncertain,

hover your mouse over the bubble for more info!

Note: When describing your issue please be as specific as possible, stating details on how the

situation came about, where the error is displaying, and providing copies of the errors. In order

to best serve you, we have guidelines on the best ways to open a troubleshooting thread here:

http://www.hatnohat.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/26-Troubleshooting

Sometimes it is too difficult to solve an error over the forum, if this is the case we can work on

your server, but a temporary ftp account pointing to your wordpress install directory, as well as

a temporary wordpress username and password, will be needed. (PM Hudson)

It benefits all BlogSense users for your needs to be met and your issues to be solved. Please look

over the following sections before opening a ticket. http://www.hatnohat.com/forum/forumdisplay.php/26-

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

The Autoblogging Blueprint

There are many guides and tutorials that have been collected from various places and posted

within the BlogSense community forums. Those will be good reads and offer small (or large)

help for improving your knowledge and best practices. But there is one resource that I

recommend above all to my users , and that is TheAutoblogBluePrint. This is a series of

informational articles, a private community, and a step system for strong autoblog building.

AFFILIATE PROGRAM

We do have an affiliate program, but it's by request. If you think you can leverage BlogSense in

a joint venture type situation please contact me directly via email or the forums.

Hatnohat Marketing & Development

So I market and support all my products under a silly name and in the company of some other

great developers… Check us out at http://www.hatnohat.com. My WP Traffic Tools

(http://www.wptraffictools.com) plugin is a fantastic and powerful plugin for WordPress;

definitely worth a look.

I also can be outsourced. If you are a professional and need help setting up and maintaining a

BlogSense powered site, and if you are not breaking any laws, then you're welcome to contact

me for a services quote.
